Air Aware Labs gets technical

Welcome to the fortieth edition of our newsletter, as we build new AI features and make the most of our CTO Sacha operating full-time with us (whose arrival was one of our most liked recent posts!) This newsletter is aimed at investors, collaborators, future hires and early adopters of our products.
Communicating air pollution data is a challenge for everyone in the sector. It is partly due to its often invisible nature. But also the large amount of potential data types, unfamiliar terms such as particulate matter, and different treatments internationally of what counts as acceptable air pollution levels. Engagement with air quality information can vary between different demographics. Our users regularly tell us they want simpler guidance, which connects to their needs and is easily actionable. This has led us to build new AirTrack features to address this, which we will start to roll out next week. This challenge has also led us to become one of the inaugural members of the international Air Quality Communications Network. Please join us on our mission - Personalising Air Quality, for everyone.

Hot off the press
- we topped 2000 users only a week ago and already have 7% more! We also received the great news that AirTrack has been trademarked in the UK. Following user feedback, we are getting ready to roll out new features that make interpreting the scientific data more intuitive
- despite summer landing for many, we are still out and about talking about Air Aware Labs! We were excited to take part in the launch of the London Borough of Lambeth Growth plan. Our latest podcast, with The Responsible Edge has dropped! And we have established a strategic partnership with Woosah to build our brand and communications through media opportunities
- check out our latest articles! Our fourth blog with World Economic Forum on business decision-making; our first collaborative article on indoor-outdoor pollution; our article responding to user interest on the link between heat and air pollution; and the last in our series of user stories with super-user Malcolm!

Go with us towards clean air
- following the publication of the 10 Year Plan for Health in the UK, and the many references to air pollution as a preventative health concern, we are surveying respiratory clinicians on their needs and experiences. Please shout if you are a clinician and would like to complete the survey!
- please join the waiting list for our new AirTrack features!
- we continue to be amazed by all the support we get from far and wide. Big shout outs to Helen Buchan Gareth Barber Abigail Whitehouse Geoffrey Lloyd Alina Klarner Yonca Braeckman Vaida Ska-McNeill Sandra Roycroft-Davis Roddy Weller Emily Hanson David Peto Leo Tyson Agnes Agyepong Hannah Scott Allie Mahler Christiane Gross James Wright Sophie-Claire Turner Ben Brothers Tom Komuro Sophie Ansell Dr Chunli CAO Judy Hadden Vanessa Neeff Jon Bromwich Charlie Martin Samantha Kidjo. We hope you'll all continue with us towards clean air.

Meet the team
This week we are meeting Sacha Manson-Smith who has operated as our advisory CTO since our inception and has now joined as an employee! Sacha says: "A little about me: building systems and writing code has always been what I enjoy the most - be it technology consultancy at TTP Labtech where I was working on cool lab automation for the pharma industry, building high performance robust pricing and risk systems at Barclays Capital, helping people who live with type 1 diabetes (like me) manage their condition at Mumoactive or a building connected micromobility platform at Beryl. I love cycling, and very much believe that finding ways to make active travel more accessible will improve the lives of many.
"Although I'm technically the newest member of the Air Aware Labs team, I have been lurking on the sidelines for a while as advisory CTO, and it's amazing to really get stuck in full-time to some super interesting problems - and there are many! Half the fun of a startup is making progress in lots of different areas at once. Sometimes you think you're not getting anywhere but then you look back: I remember when we got our first few ACTUAL REAL USERS (not just friends and family), and now we have just got our 2,000th user. It feels like we have come a long way already but there's still so much more to do!"
